For the past 23 years, Abdul has worked as an Editor, Producer, Director, and Director of Photography in the television and film industry. His professional repertoire includes working with the European Broadcasters Union as a video editor with foreign journalists during the 1996 Centennial Olympic Games. Abdul edited world news sports segments for journalists from several foreign networks including England, Croatia, Germany, the Czech Republic, Israel, Italy, and Sweden.
Abdul has worked as a producer and director of photography for Secci Films U.S.A./ Italy and Backdoor Films NY/LA. Abdul served as the Director Of Photography on the short film ”WHOA” for Backdoor Films. It was accepted into twenty international film festivals including SUNDANCE and The Chrysler Million Dollar Film Festival in Cannes France. Abdul also worked as The Co-Director & Director of Photography on the factory sanctioned Documentary on Lamborghini Sports Cars with Secci Films. He also had the pleasure of producing two commercials for the Benetton Clothing Brand. Later, Abdul left his post as a format producer for MTV Networks and worked as an Editor, Director of Photography and Post Producer for Lionsgate Entertainment. Under Lionsgate, Abdul photographed and edited DVD & BluRay content for the TV Series MAD MEN. After working on two seasons of MAD MEN, Abdul returned to the East Coast and worked as a Producer/Editor for CNN New York. After a year, Abdul returned to MTV Networks as a Post Producer while concurrently starting his production company “The Story Teller Corporation”. Abdul currently works on the Multimedia Production team at BMW’s North American Corporate Headquarters as he continues to grow The Storyteller Corp with his business partner.
Abdul’s work as a Director of Photography was won him first & second place awards at Temple University, the Cinecitta Film Festival in Rome and Sardegna’s International Film Festival in Italy.
Abdul studied Radio, Television and Film & Temple University and Studied Creative Writing at Harvard. He currently resides in New York City.
Growing up as the world of Hip Hop expanded weekly, I enjoyed the artistry of DJs and MCs from Philly, New York, California, Texas, Atlanta and around the globe. Having the opportunity to tell the story of my favorite Hip Hop DJ is an Honor and a blessing.
