The Man, The River, The Road

“The Man, The River, The Road” is a question asking itself, posed as a catalyst for exploration. A question not asked to evoke any particular answer, but rather to evoke, as EE Cummings put it, “the most beautiful answer, who asks a more beautiful question.” This answer, of course, will be unique for each individual who has the courage to face the question.

“The Man, The River, The Road” is a poetic expression in the form of a short film.
It expresses the experiences of a man who’s path has led him to let go of all that he thought he knew and all that he thought he was in order to follow the call of his heart. He hears a call that reaches his soul as a whisper, feels a tug on his heart toward something he can’t intellectually comprehend. He has a dream of a Great River and feels the call to follow the vision. We are invited on a journey with the man as he integrates his dream, navigating through memories of the road that led him to this point on his path. We are taken in even deeper as the questions the man faces are reflected back at us, the piece suddenly becoming more personal, the stakes raised when he turns to us and simply asks, “What would you do?” It is a mirror that offers a deeper reflection of oneself and one’s world, and invites us into a space of a childlike wonder at the nature of reality.
