Director Biography - Grant Lahood

GRANT LAHOOD – WRITER/DIRECTOR/DOP.
RESUME

Grant Lahood has been working in the film and television industry since the early 1980’s, initially training as a lighting cameraman.
He made his first foray into writing and directing with the short film “Snail’s Pace”. The 4 minute timelapse film was an instant hit, with multiple festival and television screenings around the world.

The success of this film led him into a directing career, which he has maintained for the last three decades, balancing TV and commercial work with a steady output of short and feature films.

Career highlights include twice being in official selection at the prestigious Cannes film festival. On both occasions – in 1993 with ‘The Singing Trophy’ and 1994 with ‘Lemming Aid’ he was awarded jury prizes.

In more recent years, he has moved more into factual and documentary work – both in the commercial/corporate arena, as well as helming documentary productions for TV and cinema.
His most recent documentary “Intersexion” won best NZ feature at the Doc Edge festival and went on to screen at over 60 international film festivals.

Projects in development include the comedy road movie “Bed Ridden”, with producers Alan Brash and John Barnett.

Grant has a broad skill set across a range of genres, with a wealth of experience in writing, directing, camera and editing.
