The Lovelights: A Day for Fainting Fairies

“A Day for Fainting Fairies” is the pilot episode of “The Lovelights”, a children’s TV show set and filmed in Turners Falls, MA. The pilot introduces the five magical sisters: Chella, Viola, Novella, Elda and Dot as they prepare for a Ladies Club tea party. Cordelia Lovelight, their young cousin who lives next door, is supposed to bring the cake, but is derailed when she discovers an unconscious fairy in the town planters.

The Lovelights is a grass roots TV show designed to connect artists, children, and children who are artists , to community access broadcasting. We are accomplishing this by combining a narrative children's TV show with live action children's theater, downtown festivals, and connections to the local arts scene. When some small community access stations can seem like sterile AV rooms, these projects can transform them into little Hollywoods where everyone can be a star! But not just stars- also directors, camera people, stunt people, prop designers, writers and more. While children are more and more fascinated with creating content for screens, they can be drawn into a vast wilderness online, and when those kids are plugged into a local creative community they can reap the rewards of teamwork and friendship as well as the equipment and resources of their local station. Adding artists to the picture means they can be inspired by the vitality and ideas of people living the creative life in their own neighborhoods.
