The Long Con

The Long Con explores the emotional conflict of revenge through a dark, comedic, supernatural lens, the pondering of the purpose of life, as well as the turmoil that holding a grudge places upon even the most nihilistic of all. Freya, a demon, who took her own life back in the 1950s has spent her afterlife plotting revenge against the man who wronged her back then, her husband. With her supposed “long con” in motion, she encounters an angel, who forces her to rethink her past and her true motivations. Freya is left to decide whether or not she really desires to go through with her plan.

Director Statement

In all of my work, I like to touch base on mental health because spreading awareness of what happens within a person's mind is something I have always vowed to do through conversation and creativity. Writing this film in a time when my mental health was diminishing, I personally became very existential and believed that life was meaningless. This short film is about realizing that life is not meaningless... even if you're already dead, like my protagonist.
