Well not so true! It’s true that everybody has their demons. Pick any single person in India and ask him his woes. He’ll narrate a whole list of them, one more distressing than the others. Most people find ways to deal with the issues affecting their souls. In other cases, however, the human mind overpowers all logical thought and is able to convince a person that their life is not worth living anymore. Of the 1300,000 people who commit suicide every year in the world, 235,000 are residents of India. The state of Maharashtra accounted for 17.9% of the suicides in India in the year of 2018, ranking second only behind the state of Tamil Nadu. Maharashtra's capital city Mumbai sports the Sion-Panvel highway and on this very highway lies the Vashi Creek Bridge, a bridge which has acquired the reputation of being a prime suicide spot owing to the increasing number of people who take their lives by jumping off the bridge.
Two particular fishermen are out to change these statistics and stop people from taking their precious lives. Meet Rajaram Joshi & Dattatray Bhoir, a fifth-generation fisherman who fishes at Vashi creek and serves as hero. "After we receive a call from the control room, we reach Vashi creek usually within seven minutes. we rush to the creek on our bike, so we have often reached before fire brigade," Rajaram & Dattatray says. The fire brigade calls Rajaram & Dattatray immediately when they get information of a person trying to end their life on the bridge and Rajaram & Dattatray spends his own money and petrol and speed to the bridge from the neighboring village of Vashi.
Not ending his responsibility at just rescuing the people, Rajaram also extends his support by visiting them often at the hospital. He does all of his not for money or recognition but out of the goodness of his heart.
How this force of fishermen’s acts as parallel force with Police department? Their attachment with the Mumbai & their work?
