In the fall of 2016, Katie co-wrote, shot and edited a documentary which highlighted the care and support that feeds her towns biking community. The Old Spokes Documentary was aired on Vermont PBS the following Spring.

Not only was this story set against the beautiful and gothic backdrop of Prague, Czech Republic, but the creative seven minute piece was also shot on 16mm colored film. The precision and meticulous planning that comes with shooting on film has made her an efficient and thoughtful director, and has added a subtle and charming quality to her work.
Come Fall of 2019, Katie plans to return to New York City to continue her path towards an eye opening and rewarding filmmaking career.

Director Statement

When I was fourteen years old, my mom had announced that she was leaving my dad. A few weeks following this, her and I moved to the next town over, and into a small and unvisited apartment. This intimate time with my mom had humbled and matured me, and helped me recognize that I was not the only one coping with my family’s new divide. By taking a closer look at all that my mother did for me, I was able to release some of my resentment and hostility for my parents separation.

The Lengths is an exploration of the unique and sensitive bond of a mother-daughter relationship, and how such relationships can grow stronger in unpredictable and often painful situations.

This film was shot in January 2019, in southern New York. The barren trees of winter and the large and drafty house helped convey a strong sense of lonesomeness from my main character. Likewise, the film was shot on Zeiss Milvus lenses to introduce a very cold and sterile feel.
