Narpuh Wildlife Sanctuary - Saving the Last Refuge
Narpuh Wildlife Sanctuary is located in Jantia hills of Meghalaya. It is the last forest patch left in Jantia hills today. The Wildlife sanctuary was created in the year 2004 by the forest department. The film shows how the wildlife sanctuary started and how they are protecting the wildlife; the effort of the forest guard and also following them through the jungle capturing their activities. It also captures the rich biodiversity present in the wildlife sanctuary like the Hoolock Gibbon, Clouded Leopard, Great Indian Hornbill etc. The film also aims to bring the attention of the villagers nearby and also the forest department to join hands in conserving this last patch of forestland.

Pelevizo Meyase was born and brought up in Khonoma village of Nagaland. At a very young age he got interested in wildlife and took up photography. In the year 2017, he was selected for the Green Hub Fellowship program. He worked with several NGOs in North east India that are working for conservation. Currently he is working on a project on documenting Khonoma village and its biodiversity through a grant received from National Geographic under the category Early Career Grant on exploration and research.
This film was made with the initiative of the forest department of Meghalaya and ATREE in order to document the last forest patch covered in the whole of Jantia hills surrounded with cement factories and mining. It is important for the forest department as there are lots of threads that may lead to destruction of this existing forest and also their effort in conserving this forest.
