The Last Sketch
The film portrays Teo's inner struggle, which is symbolized by his drawings. After the death of his child, he can no longer draw, because the last picture is a line that symbolizes the end. The other drawings make him reminisce about how he met his wife Mia and how they raised their child, Alex. In the present, however, he is alone, his child is dead and the marriage has failed. Their grief was too different, which is why they no longer understood each other. At the worst low point on the anniversary of the death, Teo receives metaphorical clues through a series of uncovered images that lead him on a path of self-discovery. The climax of the movie shows the unexpected encounter between Teo and Mia in the park, a symbolic place of their shared past. Teo realizes that Mia has always grieved in her own way and came to the park on their anniversary to swing where they used to celebrate Alex's birthdays together.

Born in the small town of Visaginas in Lithuania, Edgar moved to Germany with his family at the age of 12. As a design student at Aachen University of Applied Sciences, Edgar initially pursued a career as a product designer until he produced his animated short film "The Abyss" alongside his studies, which won him his first prizes and awards. His interest in visual communication grew with this film, which is why he decided to do a master's degree in this field. Another animated short film of his is "The Last Sketch". With his work, Edgar wants to leave a small footprint. His films touch on themes that carry complicated emotions. As a freelancer, Edgar visualises products, creates 3D animations and works as a VFX artist.
As a director, I consider a third component in addition to film and sound that has a narrative effect. In my eyes, it is the camera work. Image, sound and composition have a strong communicative power to present the story in such a way that it is watched with feelings alone. I strongly believe that people think with feelings. Feelings are like drivers on the hardware that help to find the right words to make the software work. If the film manages to appeal to a person's drivers, it doesn't need words to get the message across.
