The Last Desire
*Work in Progress
This film charts the lives over ten years of a family forced to flee the Syrian civil war to Iraq. It’s a personal and intimate insight into normal family life lived under abnormal conditions. Despite trauma and upheaval, the family laugh together, have rows, see their children grow up and get married. Told entirely through the voices of the four main characters, film maker "Sievan Nouri" first started filming the family in 2013. He captures their early days as refugees living in tents through to temporary settlement in Iraq. In later years he hears their dilemmas as they debate whether the family should split, with some favoring a new life in Europe and others wanting to return to their homeland. It’s the story of one family but it reflects the lives of so many who fled the war in their country.
