Los Angeles based director/photographer Elizabeth Lippman is the co-creator & photographer of the Life As A Runway column in The New York Times.
She is the co-creator & Director of Allure's The Power of Beauty series.
She was a 2019 Finalist for the Commercial Director’s Diversity Program and a CDDP Workshop Participant and is a frequent commercial director.
She's the Director of two Short films, The Kiss-Off and Last Seen Wearing, and is in the Alliance of Women Directors, GirlGaze, Women in Media, and on Free The Bid.
She was the Unit/ Set Photographer for Strange Angel Season I and II (CBS All-Access), and of American Princess (Lifetime).
Elizabeth's background was as a news photographer in Washington, D.C., London, Detroit, & New York, & she endeavors to bring that authenticity & emotional immediacy to her portrait, fashion, lifestyle & directing work, using immersive camera work, sumptuous visuals, and bracingly honest interviews.
In 2010, her directorial debut, zombie/fashion film mash-up Short, “Last Seen Wearing”, was accepted to the 2010 Sitges Film Fest & led its famed “zombie walk”.
Elizabeth then turned her attention to directing commercial & digital content. Her work for clients including IBM, Bloomingdales, Extra Gum, Michael Kors, & Amazon Fashion, picked up right where Life As A Runway left off- blending the microcosms of life & Style with her inquisitive, documentary eye, as she endeavors to get to the human heart of each story.
A piece Elizabeth directed for Michael Kors, “Time To Shine”, made history as the first ad to ever run on Instagram.
Elizabeth likes to say she tries to bring humor and humanism to her work.
Some fun facts about Elizabeth-
The daughter of foreign correspondents, she grew up in Cairo, Egypt.
She’s shot hundreds of movie stars and musicians, dozens of mobsters and politicians, 2 presidents, and even a Saint.
She once went on an accidental date with Mel Brooks. And he laughed at her jokes.
"The Kiss-Off" began as an experiment, working with Some Assembly LA to create a short film that fulfilled a "dare" introduced by an audience member. Challenged to create a no-budget short film around the dare "... a kiss that cooked an egg...", Elizabeth endeavored to create a spot that gave her the opportunity to direct actors and dialogue while creating humor and pathos and relatable emotional drama out of everyday circumstance.
