Megan Foley Marra and Chuck Marra have been working together since 1987, first in casting then as a Producing/Directing team both in theatre and in film. They have produced over 70 theatrical productions and currently have 23 short films in the post production or on the festival circuit. They have more short films, feature films and series in development. They are married and have two sons who work with them in production.
Megan Foley Marra has been in the industry her entire life, either as a performer, casting director, or director. Having cast over 3500 commercials and dozens of movies, TV shows, and Industrials in her 30+ year career, first as Megan Foley Casting and now Foley Marra Casting, she is best known for her casting of commercials and independent films. She has a great eye for recognizing and developing talent.
She and Chuck have also directed and produced over 70 plays and always work together in every aspect of each production at their Lake Arrowhead Repertory Theatre Company. Their focus is on theatrical casting at this point while also creating and developing their own material. They have recently co-directed and co-produced 23 short films which are currently hitting the Festival circuit.
Chuck Marra began acting in high school and ended studying with Lee Strasberg at the Tisch School of the Arts/Lee Strasberg Theatre Institute in New York. He worked at Playwrights Horizons under Robert Moss while March of the Falsettos, Sister Mary Ignatious Explains it All for You, The Actor’s Nightmare were all in development.
He moved to LA in 1987 and worked as an actor in commercials, theatre and television before becoming an associate casting director with Megan Foley Casting. He loves casting and has a somewhat strange obsession with it. He loves meeting people, discovering their talents, helping them to reach beyond what they are comfortable doing in the audition. In 2001 he got his name on the dorm when they officially became Foley Marra Casting. In 2007, they created The Lake Arrowhead Repertory Theatre Company, where he is the Artistic Director. There, he and Megan co-produced and co- directed over 70 plays, productions, and films, several of which he wrote himself. They have recently been focusing on casting films and creating and developing projects for television and feature films. Recently They co-directed and produced 23 short films that are currently on the Festival Circuit.
We think that we are all addicted to something. Sometimes it a substance, sometimes is a habit, sometimes its success, “failure”, rejection, self pity or simply addicted to being right. There is a saying that goes “you can be right or you can be sober”. Regardless of the addictions, our demons follow us everywhere relentlessly unless you deal with them. Which is a big reason we fell in love with the script for Itty Bitty Committee. Working on Itty Bitty Committee has shown us that ‘you do have a choice: you can be right, or you can be free”.
This film started as an assignment for our students in our Los Angeles-based acting class (The Project). We wanted them to write a short scene that we could film and create content for their acting reels, but they had to be complete stories and not just scenes, and they must say something important to the actor/writer. We were amazed at the quality of stories that were turned in.
In the autumn and winter of 2017, we shot 15 of these stories, with The Itty-Bitty Committee being one of them. This was the first of our short films to be accepted into a festival.
Since it’s premiere in October 2018, The Itty-Bitty Committee has been presented in festivals worldwide and is a Winner at the One-Reeler Short Film Competition and our lead actor was nominated as Best Actor for his performance at the Moscow Indie Film Festival.
