Writer Biography

A 2022 Women in Film Writers Circle Mentee, Brooklyn-based screenwriter Suzanne Griffin creates darkly romantic dramas whose fierce, witty protagonists risk everything to reinvent themselves and the world around them.  Her work's frequent themes - self-determination, creative power, and the nature of love - reflect Suzanne’s own journey as a bisexual, female writer.

Suzanne has a passion for female protagonists who are provocative and deeply flawed, and who defy expectations as they assert the power of their agency. Suzanne's advocacy for her learning diverse son has further fueled her commitment to narratives driven by marginalized voices.

Suzanne is the Winner of Filmarket Hub’s Project of the Month for her drama pilot The Age of Desire, and is a Legion M Film Scout Award Finalist. She is also a Stowe Story Labs Fellow, a Sundance Episodic Lab Second Rounder, a 2x Nicholl Semifinalist, a Black List x WIF Feature Lab Short-lister, and an Austin Film Festival Screenwriting Competition Finalist. Her work has earned five overall 8s on The Black List. She is mentored by showrunners JaNeika James and JaSheika James (Empire, Gossip Girl), and producer Jamila Jordan through WIF.
