Director Statement

The Island is a self-financed independent film that has been made by a small group of friends and like-minded people. During production our crew built miniature sets to turn a small town near St Petersburg into an uninhabited island. We also shot actors in front of a green screen a lot to compose them later into the background. The final cut has 48 shots with VFX in total, which is nearly a half of the whole movie.

Since this is a nonprofit passion project, editing took several years, and I did VFX for the film in my free time. But I was finishing post-production in the big studio, because the film had won a rough-cut competition. In June a few years of production finally came to an end, and my debut film is ready. Now I hope it will make its way to the audience.
