The Industry Insider Screenwriting Contest is an international screenwriting competition that facilitates relationships between new writers and Industry leaders looking to help aspirants embark on writing careers.

Step 2. Write up to the first 15 pages of an original script based on logline, provided by producer Judd Payne. Make it your own and take your time—once you’ve submitted your entry fee, your 15 pages aren’t due until the final deadline.

Step 3. Submit your script(s) using the instructions provided when you purchase your entry or entries.

How the rest of the contest works:

Entrants write up to the first 15 pages of a script based on the logline above, provided by Judd Payne

The top 10 finalists are chosen from the submissions, and receive a personalized letter of congratulations from Judd Payne

Each of the 10 finalists receives a copy of Movie Magic Screenwriter to professionally format their work as they enter into a 12-week ScriptXpert Scriptwriting Coaching mentoring program, consisting of feedback for every 10 pages submitted, with the goal of completing a spec screenplay based on the given logline

After the mentoring, the finalists submit their rough drafts to our professional script readers for comprehensive ScriptXpert Screenplay Coverage, and then have two weeks to work with their mentor and notes to complete the final draft of their screenplay for judging.

Industry Insider Screenwriting Contest Rules and Regulations

The guidelines below comprise the rules for the Industry Insider Screenwriting Contest. Any submission that does not comply may be disqualified.

The Industry Insider Screenwriting Contest is open to any individual 18 years or older at the date of entry. VOID WHERE PROHIBITED OR RESTRICTED BY LAW. All federal, state and local laws and regulations apply. International submissions are accepted.

Entries for the Industry Insider Screenwriting Contest may only be submitted online, and by the contest deadline. Scripts or applications printed on paper will not be accepted.

Submissions must be the original work of the applicant. (For the Industry Insider Screenwriting Contest, screenplays not based on the supplied logline will not be accepted).

Applicants may submit multiple entries. Each submission requires an individual application, payment, and script file.

Scripts authored by two people are accepted. Only one entry fee per script is required. However, the prize package is only good for one person.

Scripts should be written in English. Accepted electronic file formats include .PDF, Final Draft formats (.FDX or .FDR) and Movie Magic Screenwriter (.SCR).

You may include a title page with your contact information, however this is not a requirement.

Entries will not be returned. Please retain a copy of any materials submitted to the contest.

Entrants retain all rights to material submitted to the contest.

By entering the contest, you declare that your entry is your original work, and does not in any way infringe on the copyright of any other.

The winner is chosen based on the overall merit of the script, as decided by the contest judges. These judges reserve the right to not grant any prize and/or award.
