Director Biography - Lisa Pekar

Born in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, Lisa Pekar spent her youth training to be a professional ballet dancer at the Milwaukee Ballet Academy and was a popular model throughout the Midwest. By her early teens she was working with some of the most renowned photographers in the world. An injury before joining the Corps de Ballet in her late teens changed her career path.

After studying English with an emphasis in Creative Writing at the University of Wisconsin - Madison, the famed Italian photographer Gianni Bozzacchi, prompted Lisa to make the move to Los Angeles to study acting. Her exotic looks, mid-western work ethic and natural charm landed her in the most high profile, Hollywood circles. Credited or uncredited, Lisa has appeared in over 20 American blockbusters, independent and international films, and has worked closely with some of the greatest stars and filmmakers in the world.

Lisa mentored under director F. Gary Gray for five years before becoming a filmmaker herself. She has worked for Hollywood super-agent Ari Emanuel and coordinated International Sales for the respectable production company Bold Films under Stephanie Denton. Lisa wrote and produced numerous projects on her own, two of which were screened at the prestigious Cannes Film Festival.

Presently, Lisa has multiple projects in development, including an adaptation of the New York Times Bestseller and Most Notable Book of 2012, 'A Train in Winter - The Extraordinary Story of Women, Friendship and Resistance in Occupied France' by the highly acclaimed human rights author, Caroline Moorehead.
