The Human Weather

<The Human Weather> delves into the phenomena of how changes in the Earth system are progressing from an Anthropocene perspective.
Weather, a vital force within the atmosphere, has always been intricately linked to human survival, influencing the course of civilizations amid the sway of climatic conditions. To endure the rigors of heavy rainfall, storms, and heat waves, humans have tirelessly strived to comprehend weather patterns over extended periods.
This film begins by showcasing the core tenets of meteorology, including precipitation, temperature, and wind, through the lens of a groundbreaking weather forecasting system—an emblem of human ingenuity.
It then demonstrates extreme weather events covered by climate crisis reporters from Brazil, Italy, Spain, Thailand, Mongolia, and Canada, prompting questions about the future of the Earth.
Actress Min-ha Kim, renowned for her role as the heroine in the Apple TV+ original series "Pachinko", hosts this documentary. She acts as an astronaut living on a space station and connects climate crisis reporters around the world through her live streaming. Min-ha empathizes with scenes depicting the death of river dolphins due to drought in the Amazon, typhoons affecting all of Europe, and fine dust in Seoul.
In particular, this film presents viewers with unique sequences that combine documentary footage filmed in various regions, such as melting glaciers in the Arctic, and sandstorms in the Gobi Desert, with acting scenes featuring astronauts captured in Volumetric Video and Extended Reality(XR) studios. These distinctive elements have resulted in a creative scientific documentary unlike anything seen before.
