Director Statement

The Hitchhiker at the Lone Oak Tree is my first large-scaled animation project. Originally conceived as a still image film, the scope soon grew after developing an interest in other styles, such as Terry Gilliam's cut-out work and Lotte Reiniger's shadow animations. I consider this mainly as an exercise in the form and intend to make more like this in the future.
