The Hermit

Dean, a 30 years old successful architect lives in Dubai. His designs are unique and famous all around the world, because of that he gets a lot of orders. But the majority of them are not interesting to him as they are mediocre commercial projects. Through designing buildings, Dean expresses his conceptual ideas, that intended to be appreciated for their beauty or emotional power.

He is exiled from his home country that situated somewhere in Eastern Europe because of the political reasons. When he was young, he would protest against his government. The opposition lost and he was exiled. Doesn’t have any family, only mother and she stayed there, in his home country.

One night, he receives a phone call regarding his mother’s death. Once hearing that, he falls into depression and nostalgia to his home country. Dean wants to go back, but can’t. The ghost of the past starts to follow him. One morning, Carl, his manager calls him and says that a client wants to meet to discuss the new project. After the meeting, Dean says that he is not interested in the project. But when Dean hears that a client is very influential and will help to solve all the problems with a government, Dean starts to think about it.

He falls into his memories of the past and starts deciding if he should or not take this job. In his head, Dean visits his old house and proceeds to the desert. There, he meets the ghost of his mother. She tells him to go along and to move on as worrying about the past won’t change anything, Dean should be focused on the future, rather than past.

After experiencing these visions, he comes back and decides to take the job and move on with his life.

Director Biography - David Ibragimov

David is a 20 years old filmmaker, who finished his studying at SAE Institute Dubai. He thinks that films are more than just entertainment, it's another form of art. Through movies filmmakers expose human nature and people's problems. Films should leave something in your soul after you watch them. Aristotle says the purpose of the story is to teach and delight.

He was born in Tashkent, Uzbekistan and raised in Dubai, UAE.

No matter what happened in your life, it's already happened, even if it's something bad. You can't change it or fix it. But you can fix your attitude to it and the way you view these things. You have to move and let go of things. Continue living. After some time it will be easier. Time heals.
