The Heirs of fire
Edoardo is the new caretaker of an ancient mountain hermitage. Isolated and surrounded by nature, he develops a unique bond with the place and forms a friendship with an old tree that stands as a silent witness to the passing of time. Yet, even atop this remote mountain, the forces of modernity and transformation begin to encroach. Though Edoardo tries to resist, the world around him is changing or, perhaps, it has already changed forever.

Born in Ischia in August 1990, Boris Molinaro has been passionate about cinema from a young age. During his teenage years in Ischia and Naples, he also pursued theater, enriching his artistic foundation. He studied screenwriting and directing at the Pigrecoemme School of cinema and Photography in Naples and completed a course in cinematic writing at the Centro Sperimentale di Cinematografia in Rome under the guidance of Sergio Pierattini. In 2023, he graduated from the Atelier Varan in Paris with a short documentary titled "Une Personne, portrait d'une amitié", created as school project. His first short documentary, "Frammenti", was selected for the "Scenari Campani" section of the Ischia Film Festival in 2021.
"The Heirs of Fire", his first fiction movie, features actors such Emanuel Pascale and renowned talents Gianfranco Gallo and Cloris Brosca (as narrator). Produced with the support of WWF Italia, the movie explores powerful environmental themes.
The idea for this film was born after the most recent, brutal fire that struck the island of Ischia in September 2023.
However, this isn't a film solely about fires. Fire serves as a narrative device, a pretext for reflecting on the impact of our actions on the planet, on ourselves, and on other living beings.
"You cannot deny others what isn't yours" - this is the fundamental concept woven throughout the film. Here, "others" includes not only our fellow humans but all living things that inhabit our magnificent planet.
A secondary reflection centers on territorial identity and its fragility, increasingly endangered by the invasive dynamics of modern capitalism and its demands for profit, often at the expense of "others".
Now, who are "the heirs of fire"? potentially, all of us. We who received life "from fire" are now, through "fire" (global warming), destroying it, renouncing our very origin, Mother Nature herself.
