The Heart Within: The Seat of Sultans
Delhi's rich and powerful past extends way back to the early 13th century. The city became a place of importance to rule from, a seat of pride for the mighty Sultans.
The Sultanate era in Delhi's history is marked by emerging empires and falling dynasties. The warring sultans came from different lineages and cultures, whose impressions are still visible through the mighty structures, tombs, and gardens they built across the face of Delhi. The Turkic arches and domes, along with the bright Afghan tileworks, are an exquisite reminder of the fine imprint these rulers have left in Delhi. The Seat of Sultans delves into the history, culture, and vision of the various Sultans who ruled from Delhi. This age, which lasted for around 350 years, brought about architectural marvels such as the Qutub Minar, Lodhi Gardens, the Deserted City of Tughlaqabad and many more. The Delhi Sultanate is pivotal to understanding the unique blend of Indo-Islamic architecture found in Delhi and the cultural impact these dynasties have left on the capital of India.

Divyank Tyagi is a Business Management graduate who has always had a penchant for storytelling. He believes that everyone has a story to tell, be it a person, a product, or a brand. The key lies in finding out the ways in which these stories can add to the audience's experiences and make them reflect on the story of life they are continuously a part of. The Heart Within is a documentary trilogy that is also Divyank and Djinns Mediaworks' debut project.
The Delhi of today is interestingly mottled with structures and ruins that belong to a variety of periods in history. These historical structures come with an equally varied repute, from the UNESCO world heritage site of the Qutub Minar to the nameless tombs that one can come across while taking a leisurely walk in the beautiful Lodi Gardens.
This unique feature of the city where I have been born and brought up made me introspect on the beauty of time. These tombs and ruins, which lie unheard of, were probably once a topic of pride or delight for the inhabitants of 12th century Delhi; such are the ravages of time.
This documentary titled 'The Seat of Sultans' takes the viewers through an aesthetically pleasing journey of Delhi that was built and conquered by the rivaling Sultanate dynasties. There are tales of grandeur, tales of expert architectural breakthroughs, and tales of conquest. Finally, it is a tale of how heritage structures from across centuries co-exist within the rapidly evolving capital of India.
