Director Biography - Divyank Tyagi

Divyank Tyagi is a Business Management graduate who has always had a penchant for storytelling. He believes that everyone has a story to tell, be it a person, a product, or a brand. The key lies in finding out the ways in which these stories can add to the audience's experiences and make them reflect on the story of life they are continuously a part of. The Heart Within is a documentary trilogy that is also Divyank and Djinns Mediaworks' debut project.

Director Statement

Old Delhi of now was once the capital of the great Mughal Emperor Shah Jahan, whose decision to shift the capital from the Mughal stronghold of Agra to Delhi led to the formation of the walled city of Shahjahanabad.

The city’s grandeur was built on the back of its vibrant markets, the Jama Maszid and the Red Fort, which is still acts as the podium for the Indian Prime Minister's Independence Day speech every year since Independence. The Mughals introduced many cultural changes in the city. Diverse cultures and traditions exist in this old city. The dusty and narrow alleys lead to a variety of experiences, from the magic of Urdu Calligraphy to the age-old tradition of Kabootar-Baazi. In Our quest to capture the rich heritage of Shahjahanabad we meet a variety of people who are the preservers and admirers of this walled city. The film aims to show a very unique and culturally rich side of Delhi that many are unaware of.
