The Hands Behind The Craft Vol I: Katie
For some an adult diagnosis of autism would throw their world upside down, and for Katie, it momentarily did too. After coming to terms with her diagnosis, Katie was finally able to understand the world that she lived in, and see why it had felt like she was living on a completely different planet her whole life.
Growing up in her own world of rock collections and seeing things a little bit differently to those around her, she searched for her path not knowing which way it would lead, but always knowing that it must be a route that is kind to the Earth.
Using nature and the sea as the driving force for her inspiration, and with her family by her side and her skateboard under her feet, Katie took her obsession and not only made it into a healthy hobby, but built a successful jewellery business that she uses to inspire others to live sustainably on a daily basis.

Zoe East is a young filmmaker based in Leeds. After trying the traditional route of gaining experience in the television industry fresh out of university, she was deterred by the old-fashioned sexist attitude she experienced. Instead, Zoe paved her own way and has been running a successful production company, Opal, for the past 5 years. Day to day at Opal Zoe creates strong short form video content for brand and businesses across Yorkshire and beyond. Increasingly there is a focus on heritage and culture projects. On the side Zoe is always working away on the next passion project, moving towards her dream of helping others and making a difference through documentary making.
