The Great Distance Delivers Crane

In Tibetan villages on Qinghai Plateau, Younger siblings Gesang and Duojie lived with their grandmother. The brother and sister, who had lost their mother at a young age, were more eager to be with their busy father.Duojie and Gesang rescued an injured young black-necked crane bird whose parents were both dead. They took it home for care. The winter was coming,but due to the lack of parent birds, the little crane could not fly to migrate. After many kinds of man-made training and flying failures, they decided to ride a motorcycle and carry the crane to the wintering ground in Shangri-La.Duojie and Gesang experienced many hardships such as the lack of motorcycle oil, road collapses, rapids and shoals, and vehicle punctures, With the help of pilgrims, a yak driver,and a rapper .they traveled more than 1,000 kilometers . And they finally delivered the Little Crane to the wintering ground and helped it return to the crane group.The two children were determined to send cranes thousands of miles. It is not only the growing up of the children, but also the salvation of adults. The children have finally got their father's accompany.

Lhapal Gyal, graduated from Beijing Film Academy. The first film "Wangza's Rain Boots" won the Nomination Award of New Generation Unit Crystal Bear at the 68th Berlin International Film Festival; the Best Director Award at the 12th FIRST Youth Film Festival; the 5th Beijing Youth Film Festival Annual Director Award; the 8th Beijing International Film Festival Most Notable Screenwriter Award; and the 27th Golden Rooster Hundred Flowers Film Festival Domestic New Film Recommendation Award; Show Unit of the 37th Vancouver International Film Festival; Best Director and Best Writer of the 13th Chinese Youth Forum.

Pema Tseden (Tibetan: པད་མ་ཚེ་བརྟན།, Wylie: pad ma tshe brtan), also called Wanma Tsaidan born December 1969), is a Chinese film director and screenwriter of Tibetan ethnicity. He is a member of the China Film Directors' Guild, China Film Association and Chinese Film Literature Association.

Director Statement

The protagonists of the film are children.It also talks about the endangered bird black-necked crane of state-level protection, which is unique to the plateau, as well as the elements of the road to capture the entire Tibetan landscape. The children are connected with the flightless crane in heart for they have the same life. From the subtle relationship between man and bird, the film explores the relationship between man and nature, man and society, and children and adults.
