Welcome to The Grand Budapest Film Festival, a 2-day annual event dedicated to independent filmmakers from all over the world.

Our first edition is taking place January 17th - 18th 2019! Follow us on FB for more updates!

Every year, we are celebrating independent cinema in the heart of lively Budapest. Puskin Mozi, one of the city’s oldest art cinemas provides a perfect venue for our event, created for the culture-loving, cinephile, international crowd of the city.

The festival’s aim is to provide a platform for filmmakers who don’t necessarily have a large budget, but a vision and an important story to tell. Through our careful selection process our goal is to showcase a wide variety of genres and styles to cinema fans and fellow international filmmakers.

We will be handing out a number of awards at the event in a number of categories, selected and evaluated by our Jury. Our Jury panel consists of experienced and educated members of the film industry and we also offer film critiques for your film.

We encourage you to submit to several categories in order to increase your chances of getting selected.

We look forward to putting on a spectacular event in the beautiful city of Budapest and showcasing your film.

We are no longer accepting submissions for the 2019 edition, but we are open for 2020!

Filmmakers attending the festival will be greeted with VIP treatment, reserved seats, and cocktails at the after-party.

Winners will be awarded with Award Certificates, goodies and, best of all, online VOD distribution deals!

Press and photographers will be invited to the festival.

In regards to intellectual property, you are fully responsible for the clearance of any music, sound, images or graphics contained in your entry. If any record company or music publisher contacts us about an entry’s music rights, we will refer that company to you so be sure to obtain all the appropriate clearances beforehand.

It is in our discretion whether or not we choose to promote your film via our social media channels or website. This may include Facebook, Instagram, Twitter or a blog.
All content that is submitted in a language other than English is required to have English subtitles included.

We accept films with starting from production year 2014 or later, not earlier.

By submitting you agree to our terms and conditions and give us permission to use your email address for marketing purposes. Your information is safe with us and will never be shared with 3rd parties.

Unique experience in the heart of Budapest. We were lucky enough to win with our film "Telephone". The selection was a good mix. Good feedback and communication. The venue is really cool, as is the whole of Budapest. Lots of unique charm to the city and I think that comes through with how they choose to do their events. Would love to come back again!
