The Good Word Writers Retreat hosts events across the globe. Our Greece Retreat is the most coveted and popular. For five days and five nights you will be surrounded by like minded individuals on the idyllic island of Patmos. Study one on one with acclaimed mentors. We bring writers, directors, and producers together to assist you with your material and hear pitches. Our emphasis is equally divided between helping you perfect your material and helping you sell it.
Aside from your classes, you will be treated to a private sail, historical tours and more!

Awards & Prizes

We offer partial scholarships of $ 1,500 towards your retreat costs.

If awarded a scholarship, you will be responsible for the remaining $4,200. We offer payment plans as well. Scholarships are awarded on a rolling basis.

TO APPLY, SEND SEVERAL PARAGRAPHS OUTLINING THE REASON YOU WISH TO ATTEND AND WHAT MENTOR YOU WOULD LIKE TO WORK WITH. IF YOU DO NOT FOLLOW THIS DIRECTION, YOUR SUBMISSION WILL BE DISQUALIFIED.

Do not send any material other than what is requested. Do not send scripts, outlines, or any literary material. YOU WILL BE DISQUALIFIED IF YOU DO.

To apply please write several paragraphs outlining the reason you wish to attend, what project you are working on, and what mentor you wish to work with.

Scholarships are awarded on a rolling basis. The deadline to Apply is May 30, 2025. There is no cost to apply. The retreat is September 20-24, 2025. Check-out is on the morning of the 25th.

All who enter The Good Word Writers Retreat contest here agree and understand that by entering the contest and describing your work which may contain a logline, outline, or other literary material, you will agree to release and hold harmless The Good Word Writers Retreat and its owners. This means you won't make claims against us for expenses, liability, or literary damages. This includes limited invasion of privacy, defamation, slander, libel, violation of rights of publicity, copyright, infringement of trademark or other intellectual property rights relating to a participant’s entry, participation in the contest, and/or acceptance or use or misuse of the monetary award should you receive one from The Good Word Writers Retreat.

By submitting your letter, you attest that you are entering on your own behalf. If you aRe speaking about material you wish to develop, you acknowledge that the material belongs to you, that you are the creator, and that you have the right to bring this material to the retreat, should you attend.

Finally, we are not an employer and your entry does not suggest that we are agreeing with you to develop, buy, sell, or solicit your material.
