Experiencing Interruptions?

The Girl from the Other Side

Once upon a time, in a far, faraway place, there were two lands.
The world was divided into an inner land and an outer land.
People feared the outer land, inhabited by eerie beings, the carriers of curse.

One day, on the border to the inner land inhabited by humans,
one such being finds a girl on heaps of abandoned dead bodies.
The girl says her name is Shiva
and shows affection to the "being" who found her, calling him "Teacher."

This is a story of two people—
one human, one inhuman—
who linger in the hazy twilight
that separates night from day.

Director Statement

The most challenging thing about this project was that two of us were appointed to work on this film.
Stakes were high as we only had minimal experiences working in the television animation projects. However, the key feature about this project was that we were able to propose our idea from the start, where we were required to come up with "how we would work our ways through creating this film."
From how to illustrate the story to what kind of lines and textures we should use to draw the characters and arts. We made sure that every bit of details were linked to the original work of "The Girl from the Other Side/ Totsukuni no Shojo."
We tried to keep the uniqueness and the charm of the original story when making "The Girl from the Other Side" animation. We hope many of you would enjoy this work of art!
