George Merabishvili is a Georgian filmmaker who grew up in Cyprus and is currently based in London. He studied Graphic Communication Design at Central Saint Martins UAL (2023) where he developed his practice in filmmaking and visual storytelling. He is passionate about worldbuilding and immersive storytelling, often exploring sci-fi and fantasy settings. George's practice involves directing, cinematography, editing, visual effects, and music production.
Throughout history, folktales have captured the fears and desires of the people that told them. With this film I aim to do the same for a contemporary audience, adapting folkloric storytelling to moving-image. While the story follows traditional archetypes, the setting echoes modern concerns of resource scarcity, ever-expanding megacities, and our impact on the environment. Adopting a worldbuilding-oriented approach, I used real locations as inspiration for the fictional setting and story.
