Short report on the work: The screenplay by Marco Moschetti wants to analyze the drama from a different point of view from the classical (social, sentimental or psychological problems) facing the theme of euthanasia as a denunciation of a possible future (but next) dystopia. This situation is faced by an elderly person through whom we can have a subjective point of view, such as that of Joseph who goes to commit suicide by feeling useless. But "useless" human life is never so, so the fact of seeing this, leaves us to reflect the consequences of a utilitarianism and a capitalism that increasingly suffocates us. This is not a solution to the "social" problem of the world and of overpopulation.
"I can feel more useful to them, and solve their financial problems" this sentence makes it clear how Joseph feels "more", given his suffering in a life lived in dignity, and thus shows us how affectivity vanishes. He feels a burden and thinks he is doing good, but in reality it is not so, in fact his gesture can not bring suffering, as shown by his daughter's tears.
We young directors, we have chosen to deal with this topic (after the proposal by Marco Moschetti), in the best way possible according to our abilities and because the subject is little treated and audacious, if not difficult. The difficulty was that of putting into action the events seen by a person much older than us (the protagonist). So it was a question of entering his mentality, completely different from that of us young people.

Director Biography - Luca Bertossi, Betty Maier

La passione per il cinema è nata 6 anni fa quando realizzavo i primi esperimenti con la telecamera, anche se ho sempre avuto la passione per i montaggi video sin da quando era un ragazzino.
Grazie agli studi universitari e al lavoro sul campo ho cercato di migliorarmi di volta in volta realizzando diversi cortometraggi grazie al sostegno della mia troupe di collaboratori e professionisti che ho conosciuto e che mi seguono già da 3 anni. Collaboro con diversi professionisti, sia truccatori, revisori della sceneggiatura, fonici, e sono in grado di usare le attrezzature professionali e sono in grado di gestire una squadra di lavoro.
Ho realizzato una quindicina di cortometraggi, tra cui 7 di essi hanno riscontrato successo tra la critica e il pubblico; per la maggior parte horror, sono stati selezionati a diversi concorsi internazionali e nazionali, portando a casa anche diversi riconoscimenti (tra i più prestigiosi ci sono gli Oniros Film Awards, i Rome Web Awards, in italia, mentre oltre oceano a Los Angeles, in New Mexico e anche in diverse città in Europa). Ho realizzato questi cortometraggi in maniera autoprodotta, ma con l'ausilio di attrezzatura professionale che ho acquistato con il passare del tempo (tra cui telecamere Blackmagic, carrelli, steadycam, luci cinematografiche professionali).
Sono sempre stato un appassionato dell'horror sia d'autore (come The Witch, It Follows, Hereditary), sia commerciale (come le opere di James Wan). Come mio stile preferisco più la parte autoriale, in modo da poter esprimere più liberamente e artisticamente il racconto tramite immagini e suoni.
Inoltre ho lavorato come direttore della fotografia e montatore in un film indipendente con 12 persone nella troupe e 180 comparse.
Nel gennaio 2019 ho fondato la Deep Mind Film Factory, piccola società di produzione video nella quale lavoro come filmmaker e regista.
