The Forbidden Novel
Riccardo Brunelleschi an orphan, is raised by an elderly couple who are poor.
At middle school he meets and gets to know a teacher, who for him is of an unparalleled beauty, he falls madly in love with her, but when she can't reciprocate her feelings, she is married and has a six-year-old daughter named Adriana.
He is doing various jobs to survive, mainly in the construction industry, but his biggest dream is to become a writer.
As a boy while he was sitting on a bench waiting for the bus, reading a novel, he did not notice that an older man with one eye brown and the other veiled in gray, had sat next to him. The two become friends. Riccardo helped him by doing some maintenance work.
The elder teaches him how to write and live.
Years later Riccardo needs money to help the elderly man, now sick, who needs an expensive intervention.
His attempts to get his first novel published fail because a publisher first and an agent after scamming him. He manages to have two short relationships, even these bankruptcies.
The day he sees Adriana again, he has the impression of seeing his middle school teacher again. She had a beautiful voice and would like to be a singer. The two are made for each other. They get married. He manages to publish his novel. The elder dies. Riccardo buys the old man's house cheaply, finds an unpublished manuscript there, revises it and publishes it as his own. Become a well-known writer. To make his wife happy he decides to buy a villa with all the comforts in installments, to be able to fully pay the debt he is forced to write his third novel, but his imagination freezes. His wife advises him to take a little vacation. So, he leaves. Days go by without results. One morning while he is traveling his car stops in the middle of an isolated road. An abandoned house invites him to enter and there he finds the long-awaited creativity. In a few weeks he manages to write the book, without bothering to read it again, he sends it to his publisher by e-mail and lets his wife know the good news.
On returning home he finds himself a widower, his beloved wife has been murdered. At the crime scene there are no footprints or signs that could help the police. Only after a period of depression does the writer discover a terrible secret. In his latest manuscript, the main character lives a life parallel to his. As he finds himself in an abandoned house where there are evil presences and he had premonitions, he sees his wife who will betray him in a few days, he travels all night, finds his wife with the record director talking in the garden of his house, and the protagonist out of jealousy grabs a knife from the kitchen and sticks it behind the host, then approaches his wife. She holds out her hand to give him a CD, hers with the dedication for him, the contract just signed and the check. He furiously squeezes her throat until he suffocates her. He hides all the evidence in one of kitchen’s drawers and returns to the abandoned house. When Riccardo finds the courage, he opens his kitchen drawer and ... finds the ugly truth.
