The directors first feature film The Food actually got few from the test audience to a mental hospital, including the director himself. We weren't able to publish the movie in Finland at all, because people here apparently can't tolerate surreal horror, even thou it is supposed to be a psychological and symbolical love film with the most beloved elements: death and a black hole... Oh and skullfucking ofcourse. I'm truly happy about the comments some of the traumatized test viewers said: "sickest and scariest horror movie", that means the subliminal messages and disturbing sounds got it just right. A friend that got mentally really ill from the film (didn't know that's even possible) , sometimes still asks me what was the thing eaten in The Food, with a worrying face. I think the answer is easy, especially if one of your hobbies is profiling serial killers.
If you can overdo something, do it.
