THE FINAL DAY
Irish Free State soldiers are closing in on General Liam Lynch on the 10th of April 1923. His shooting on the slopes of the Knockmealdown Mountains and his subsequent death that night in Clonmel, effectively results in the ending of the Irish Civil War.
This short film is a 12 minute extract from the end of the longer documentary The Dying Days which gives more background and context to the period. The original sound track was composed and produced by Dawn Kenny.

I hope this short film will engage a broader and younger audience to encourage them to examine a difficult and challenging part of our history. Even though it is a 100 years since the events of this film took place it is still a difficult and controversial period of Irish History.
