The Fifth Commandment
My short film THE FIFTH COMMANDMENT tells the story of a bet between two wealthy businessmen. The bet is simple: how much money does it need to make a man kill a complete stranger?
On a nocturnal drive through a big city, a businessman stops by the river and approaches a lone man standing there. The guy seems to be taken aback by the question put to him: “Would you kill me for 50.000 Euros?” The businessman tells the stranger a date and time and leaves without waiting for an answer.
Next day, he tells his betting partner about the encounter. The guy is seemingly shocked and advises him strongly against meeting the stranger again. After all the whole idea was just a vinous joke. But the businessman insists on his theory and shows his friend the gun with blanks he has organised for the “test”. He wants to have the final proof, which is the bang of the gun.
On the given date, he goes to the river bank. Duly, the stranger appears, and the businessman hands him an envelope with 50.000 Euros. Then he reaches for the gun. Instantly the stranger pulls his own gun and says “Leave it, I’m a pro!” He shoots the businessman and disappears into the night.
