Rick Hamilton directed the Off-Broadway show "Fabulous! The Queen of New Musical Comedies." His work Off-Off Broadway includes "Geeks! The Musical" and "Sophia." He has aided in developing shows and directed staged readings of "Candy Hearts," "Sarah was Mine" and "A Retail Carol." Rick also directed the steampunk burlesque cabaret "Suave and the Boner," which has been performed in Ohio and repeat engagements in NYC (Original Cast Album available on iTunes). After a career of performing on and directing for the stage, Rick has transitioned to filmmaking. Currently a student at The New School, he is pursuing his BFA in Musical Theatre with a Minor in Film Production. His intent is to marry the two art forms, making films with a sense of theatricality and exploring the relationship of cinematography and choreography.
An offhand remark inspired the short: “When sleeping the desert, you awake the next morning surrounded by the footprints of everything that’s been crawling around you as you slept.” It was a horrifying image and laid the groundwork of the plot. But the depiction of Kate’s struggle to overcome both internal and external struggles is the heart of the film. Knowing Kate needed no knight in shining armor to save her from her demons, it was then a conscious choice to make it an all female cast, a rarity in the thriller genre.
