Unique in Belgium, The Extraordinary Film Festival offers the general public, professionals and those concerned a positive image of people with disabilities, in their realities and abilities, far from the usual clichés.

* Films must be related to the topic of disability, such as: autism, chronic illness, hearing loss and deafness, vision loss and blindness, intellectual disability, learning disability, memory loss, physical disability, speech and language disorders, PTSD and other disabilities not specified above.

Organised every 2 years, the TEFF presents a selection of international works of great cinematographic quality, where all genres are addressed: from shortfilms to feature films, from animated films to documentaries and fiction… All this, of course, within a 100% accessibility.

Also on the program: meetings, debates, animations, concerts and shows!

The Extraordinary Film Festival has met with increasing success over its first 4 editions, to the point of attracting 5 657 spectators in 2017 and becoming one of the three largest festivals on this theme in the world!!

RULES AND TERMS - The Extraordinary Film Festival

1. OBJECTIVES
The Extraordinary Film festival (a biennial festival) selects films on the theme of the realities and capacities of people living with disabilities.
Types of films that can be submitted include, fiction, animation, docu-fictions, documentaries and short-films of communication content.

Films submitted for entry must have been completed before March 1st 2019.

2. ORGANISATION, DATES AND PLACE
The Extraordinary Film Festival is organized by the non-profit association EOP! in Namur from 7 to 11 November 2019.

3. RULES AND REGULATIONS
To be admitted, each film must match the following requirements :
• Short-films: Films of duration up to 52 minutes
• Long Films: Films of duration above 52 minutes
• Films have to be produced after January, 1st 2017
• Films have to be available for Festival screening on .mov (ProRes 422) or mp4. codec H264 - 10 Mbs - 1920 x 1080
• Films have to be subtitled in french (or in english)

4. SUBSCRIPTION AND SELECTION : before MARCH 1st, 2019
Participants MUST submit their film via online submission.

Registration will only be valid upon receipt of all requested information.

Entries sending by mail, cannot be considered for the competition.

5. COMPETITION / AWARDS
Two categories of awards are proposed: Short-films and Long films

Jury’s decisions may not be subject to appeal. Only persons bound by the name of the Prize will be the recipients of it.

Winning a Prize included the agreement of the production with the fact that the winner films could be showed during regional screenings after the festival and one time during a free screening during the next festival.

6. SELECTION
A selection committee composed by the organisers will select the entries. The committee will determine which film will be screened in the official competition category and those which will be considered out of category. The committee has the prerogative to decide without justification on the selection of film completed prior to the year 2017.

Confirmation of the selection or not for each entry will be sent to the respective contacts in may 2019.

7. IN CASE YOUR FILM IS SELECTED:
No film can be withdrawn from the Festival after the official announcement of his selection.
A digital version (.mov / ProRes 422) of the film must be sent to the organizer (EOP ! asbl).

A Fact Sheet and other documents (list of dialogs in English or French, synopsis, biography, photos of the director and the film, trailer, etc.) must be communicated to the festival in the month following the selection.
The author(s) authorize(s) a copy of the film for its French subtitling and audio description (for the visually impaired).

8. TELEVISION DIFFUSION AND INTERNET
All selected films may be excerpted (limited to 15% (max.2 minutes) of the length) for publicity purposes on TV or via the Internet. Extracts of the selected films may be broadcast on TV channels and on the internet in the context of divulging information regarding the Festival.

9. SHIPPING OF SCREENING COPIES
• No rental fees of the prints will be paid by the festival for the competition programmes. Copies of selected films must be sent before June 1st, 2019.
• We ask participants to send their screening file via internet (We transfert, Dropbox or an FTP server {with access code}).
• USB sticks are accepted but will not be sent back after the Festival.

10. INVITATION FOR THE DIRECTOR
Selected films directors will receive an invitation for the Festival in Namur for 5 days and an accreditation. This invitation may not be used by a third party.

12. LITIGATION
The organisation committee is the only one allowed to deal with the persons most closely concerned in case of a litigation. Submit a film to our competition implies the acceptance of these regulations. Should any legal dispute occur, only the French version of the present regulations and the Belgian Legislation will have force of law.
