The Düsseldorf Diaries

With German units withdrawing from the front of the Second World War, two brothers accidentally meet - one deserter, the other a fanatical member of the SS. Family connections disrupt obligations to the nation, and both are confronted with the question of what is more important. Family? Or service to the homeland?

Director Statement

Düsseldorf diaries were created to commemorate the horrors of the Second world war that so many men had to face. We wanted to explore a universe where the usual good meets evil, only now the moral ambiguity of both characters is unclear. They both act in their own best interest, only they are both influenced by different morals and beliefs which are very different from each other. This is intertwined with their sibling relationship and a drama cauldron has been stirred. The plot which was brought up by my friend and colleague Adam Hašák was worked on for a good half a year before we started proper pre-production. I've also used the film as my bachelor's audiovisual project that summarized the theory and practice behind student film projects.
