Director Biography - Thomas Petborisooth

Thomas Petborisooth studied film production and film theory at California State University of Sacramento but always came to storytelling from a place of admiration and wanting to replicate the exploration he found on the screen. Once he moved to Los Angeles he dove head first into commercial assisting jobs and continued to create short films with independent filmmakers near him.

Even in a world of adaptation and IP, there has always been a drive to fully exercise what the art can do for the audience as well as the storyteller. Thomas continues to write and direct whatever he can and is aiming to start preproduction on his first feature screenplay in late 2021.

Director Statement

It has been a wild journey to learn how to tell a story visually. From finding my own voice and how my perspective has value to learning the balance of having a vision and creating something with other artist that could be more impactful than the original idea. I think there's a lot of mystification of filmmaking from every step of the way, although there is skill needed, great and amazing pieces of art are created by people just like you and I. I have to thank AGBO and The Russo Brothers for holding this festival and creating their Pizza Film School because it brought together a bunch of crazy creative individuals that would never have made this cool imaginative story!

I will take the lessons from their discussions and example and look forward to passing it along on future films.
