Experiencing Interruptions?

The Distant Shores

Drawing in parallel worlds, three panels unfold a visual metaphor for our shared planet's fragile balance. The middle panel serves as a delicate pathway of compromise, blending two contrasting realities. This narrative embodies the essence of climate justice, in which equality is the key battleground. The film demonstrates the growing disparity between richness and scarcity as rich and poor regions differ in their access to resources, resilience to climate change, and chances of survival. Against the last panel of overconsumption, the fight for climate justice persists?

This short film was created during my stay at the Joya: Artist in Residence. Joya: arte + ecología embodies a forward-thinking arts organization, independently engaging with contemporary ideas on climate change and sustainability through education, research, and activism. This mission inspires me and heightens my awareness as an artist-in-residence and the creator of this film.

Thank you to Wholistik Permaculture in Chiang Mai, Thailand and Thaan for facilitating the discussion on climate justice last year. It planted the seeds of awareness that I have since absorbed and understood, prompting me to question the future of this situation.
