The Dancing Baby Meets Cthulhu: The Last Dance
Restoration history: In 1998 I was running the Orange County ROP Animation program and learning 3D studio Max version 1 at the same time I am teaching 3 levels of animation. The Dancing Baby model, which comes with Max 1 along with a number of pre-recorded motion capture files, was exploding on TV, first with Ally McBeal and then with a number of forgettable low rent commercials.
One Sunday I was in my local Seven Eleven where the Dancing Baby showed up on a diamond car window suction cup sign with the words “Cha Cha Baby Aboard”. That was too much. It had to be stopped. I went right home, opened 3D Max and killed the little brat and fed its wire mesh soul to the Great God Cthulhu ala Marv Newland.
I put a very low rez version on the Internet (dial up speed being what they weren’t). And a couple years later I was contacted by the guy in charge of the NecronomiCon film program. I did a higher rez version for them. Which was the only time it has been shown in public. Now I have restored it from the original files.

Stop Motion Animation is the red haired step child of animation education. By and large, stop motion is just not being taught in animation programs. I do everything I can to change that.
