Jesse Sockwell has always been obsessed with art, especially film. He began writing scripts in the 3rd grade and started writing them in the proper format in the 5th. Once he graduated high school, theater came into his life as well. At the age of 25, he has independently produced 6 plays, 5 of which he has directed and starred in, and he also wrote 2 of those as well. He has also directed multiple short films as well as 3 features, spanning all different types of genres.
He was once a co-producer with Bad Guys Close in Productions but he is now a producer at Echoe Productions, something he has wanted to create his whole life.
Many more projects are on the way.
"The Dance" came to me how a lot of my ideas that do not spawn from personal experience do, out of nowhere. I love the aesthetic of silent films, a way to visually represent feeling, emotion, etc. with just visuals, facial expressions and body language. I firmly believe a lot of an actor's story can be told through the facials and especially the eyes.
I have also always been interested in ballet in general and all of the hard work that goes into it.
So, I wanted to create my own emotional silent story about a ballerina confronted by something. Once I knew what that "something" was... I was extremely excited to get going on it!
I was beyond lucky and blessed to have Megan Cook and Landri Kilpatrick portray their parts, respectively. They are amazing! Heather Bithell also choreographed a beautiful sequence for Megan, who has danced since she was a little girl, to bring to life and they did!
