A resident of Albuquerque New Mexico and native of El Paso Texas, Robert Towne began making films as a teenager in high school. Starting off with movies that featured cardboard spaceships and wooden swords, Robert has never shied away from taking on ambitious stories typically within the genres of science fiction, adventure, and fantasy. Over the years, Robert has built a team that pushes independent guerilla filmmaking to its limits, maximizing whatever limited resources are available to create stories of epic scope and scale with minimal to no use of CGI. Robert's favorite author is J.R.R. Tolkien. His favorite films include the original Star Wars trilogy and the westerns of Sergio Leone.
What if Sauron won? What if heroes failed and the forces of darkness succeeded in ruling the earth? Among other things, this was the starting point for the journey that became "The Curse and the Covenant." Feelings of hopelessness, failure, and the sense of having lost a major struggle are universal to the human experience - whether on a personal or societal scale. How many times have people experienced depression to the point of feeling there is no sense of fighting back anymore? Sometimes it seems like winter will never give way to spring. For this story, we returned to the same universe from "Song of the Starslayer" but decided to focus on an entirely new set of characters in a situation 900 years before our first film. In contrast to that previous film, this is a much more intimate tale, focusing on a handful of characters struggling with the failures from previous generations - or perhaps themselves. It is the story of Akosh... whom we meet not as a hero, but as a timid refugee struggling with survivor's guilt. Yet the setting remains in the epic landscapes of fantasy. It is a film made by fans of fantasy, comic books, and video games, for those same fans. Showcasing talent from across the American southwest, I hope you enjoy our tale.
