During the COVID-19 pandemic loneliness and a need for community has been at an all-time high. I found myself shying away from comfort and gravitating towards bodies of work that gave me a sense of belonging, with the slightly overused message, "You are not alone". Instead of saying that though, people would share either fictional or non-fictional stories about a lonely character who makes their way through life as their own best friend, (Take Steven Grant in Moon Knight for example).
These stories spoke to me, as someone who had recently moved to a new school, begun high school, was cooped up inside etc. and I knew I wasn't the only one.
Therefore, I thought up a basic story line in about ten minutes and wrote up the script the next day, it was like this story had been sitting in my mind for years and couldn't wait to be discovered and get out. The plot flowed from my fingertips and I was in a state of relief, the ebbs and flows throughout the creation of the film turning the experience into a particularly tumultuous therapy.
In conclusion, this is a film I was very careful to have my love and passion for it shine through, and I hope you feel it too.
