The Commune
A young collective of artists occupies an old abandoned school in the centre of Lima. The building is a powerful colonial symbol that tells part of the city's history. In their attempt to appropriate and socialise the cultural heritage with the communities of central Lima, the artists of the commune invite us to think about the role of art in the process of recovering memory.
Between the past and the future, their efforts speak to us of the wounds and omissions of history, but also of the hope embodied by a youth obstinate in projecting a more just and egalitarian society.
