Caleb grew up north of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania in the small town of Center Township. His passion for film was sparked the way it is for many: in the long aisles of the video rental store and in the darkened space of a theater. Early on, he began to write and direct his own work. In the ten years since then, he hasn't slackened the pace. He's made over twenty short films and written one feature film. His last two short films have gone on to festivals and had multiple screenings. Caleb now lives in the city of Pittsburgh, continuing the long and exciting journey of making films, and loving every minute of it. The Clog marks his first post-college film, and his first foray into higher budget filmmaking.
The Clog holds a special place in my heart. It exists as part homage and part reinvention of the B-Movie monster films of my youth. As a director, what attracted me to the film was it’s inherent challenge. The idea of crafting a cinematic language in the 5’x14’ bathroom, of using only practical effects, and the inherent need for sound design that’s baked into the script, all this and more pulled me deeper into this crazy story. As a writer, I hope the audience falls in love with these characters as I have. I was endeared to them by their humor, eccentricity, and in Ralph’s case, his near-philosophical approach to plumbing. This film is the product of a hard work, love, and more than a little movie magic. I hope you enjoy the ride.
