The Circle
Tagline : "You can run. But can you ever leave?"
Synopsis:
On the tranquil shores of Kuakata, Bangladesh, a humble fish fry shop draws crowds each day — all chasing one unforgettable taste. But behind the smoke and spice, an unseen tension quietly simmers.
A woman — caught in a silent struggle against society, memory, and the lingering ache of a fractured heart.
One decision — that could reshape the destiny of both herself and her child.
The Circle is the story of a fleeting moment… when someone chooses to run — not from others, but from the weight of everything left behind.
Yet the question lingers: Can the past ever be escaped, or does it simply come full circle?

Mahamudul Hasan Tipu is a filmmaker shaped by the soul of Bangladesh. His early work in television drama carved a space for stories that speak softly but linger deeply. In his debut short film The Circle (24 min, 2025), Tipu brings viewers to the windswept beaches of Kuakata — where silence speaks, memories burn slow, and one woman’s quiet rebellion echoes the struggles of many. His cinema is rooted in realism, wrapped in poetry, and always circling back to the human heart.
The Circle was born from a quiet ache — the kind that lingers beneath the surface of everyday life. As a storyteller from Bangladesh, I’ve long been drawn to the spaces where silence speaks louder than words, where a single decision can carry the weight of a lifetime.
Set in Kuakata, a coastal town where the sea feels endless yet enclosing, The Circle explores the deeply personal journey of a woman standing at the edge — of her past, her pain, and her possibilities. It’s a story about the invisible burdens women carry, especially in societies where their voices are often hushed, their choices questioned.
This 24-minute short is not about grand gestures or loud conflicts. It’s about the quiet moments — the glance of a mother, the sound of waves, the smell of a fish fry stall — and how they hold entire worlds within them. My goal was to create a film that feels lived-in, textured, and emotionally real.
As my first short film, The Circle reflects my desire to tell stories that feel small on the surface, but run deep beneath. I believe cinema has the power to pause time — to let us sit with people we might never meet and feel something true.
I hope this film reaches hearts — and perhaps, offers a little recognition to those who’ve ever felt caught in a circle of their own.
