23 year old San Diego native Aaron David Roberts, has been working in the film industry since his pre-teen years working as a PA/Grip on his father's commercial production sets. After High School, Aaron started an ambitious multi-media company, Blue Vision Entertainment, focusing on discovering and promoting unknown and independent filmmakers, musicians, artists and photographers.
He quickly learned many of his peers who found the company with him did not have the same drive and persistence as he did, and Blue Vision Entertainment focused on the one dimension of the company Aaron was running: film.
Aaron created the world of 'The Cast Members' in spring of 2014. After an initial pilot completed that same year (under name The Blackshirts), Aaron and the team decided they loved the concept, but needed to retool the show to make it a viable property to sell.
The Cast Members LLC. was created in June of 2015 in coordination with the shows newfound SAG New Media Status. Aaron headed up a casting sessions for nearly a completely new cast from the original 2014 pilot. Aaron the wrote, directed and produced The Cast Members crowdfunding promotional material filmed in fall 2015.
After raising nearly $2,000 locally in the spring of 2016, Aaron and his 3 producing partners were able to pay off their loans for the initial pilot and start fresh for funding The Cast Members pilot episode.
Filming throughout Fall/Winter 2016, the pilot was completed in early 2017 and released in June of this year to much acclaim from fans on The Cast Members Facebook page and beyond, as the episode has now been viewed over 130,000 times.
After having written, directed, produced and edited the pilot episode as a one-man operation, Aaron now embarks on the final journey of the independent filmmaker (with the help of his publicist, long-time industry veteran Lori Jonas): the sale.
But, while networking in Los Angeles with hopes of finding a home for The Cast Members, Aaron has managed to stay busy, as he is now in the midst production on a SAG Short Film entitled Three Weddings, which will be used as a proof of concept for a TV Series based off his own larger than life Italian-American family.
The plight of the movie theater worker is near and dear to my heart. Being my first ‘real’ job while I was still a senior in high school, my experiences working at the theater were everything from absurd to hilarious and sometimes downright awful. What I want to do with The Cast Members is bring the story of the movie theater worker to the world. They are underpaid, overworked and hardly ever appreciated by the customers, much less upper management. The job itself also lends itself to comedy with hours to stand around and goof off. A majority of the characters and situations in the first season are all based off of real events and people that either I or two of my writers, who currently manage at a movie theater, worked with. The world we created in TCM is rich and filled with all types of strong comedic characters to play around with in a new setting not seen from a serialized comedy before.
