The Caribbean Alcatraz
True story about a Cuban political prisoner (George Duarte) during the Castro Regime who was imprisoned purely for trying to flee Cuba and be a free man. George was a good man, who was never a criminal, yet he was imprisoned for over 10 years, endured inhumane circumstances, and was constantly knocked down. George’s chronicles are filled with repeated failures that could easily break a strong man’s most passionate dreams. His entire life was taken from him; his family, friends, home, and freedom. This is a true story of a man who lost everything, yet his self-belief ultimately led him to triumph.

The Hyphenate started filming videos with his mom's camcorder at the age of 10 and by the time he was 12 he decided he was going to become a filmmaker.
This documentary was a passion project that was slowly worked on over the course of several years with no budget. When I met George Duarte and heard his story, I was instantly inspired and motivated to help share it with the world.
