The Care-Breakers

Supported by their mother's inheritance, Ysé, a young woman suffering from social anxiety, and Simon, her narcoleptic brother, are stuck in a relationship of interdependence and lead a life of idleness, devoid of meaning and bearings. On her 21st birthday, when she finally has access to her share of the inheritance, Ysé learns that an additional clause is in the will: to do forty hours of volunteer work at the Centre Béatrice-Caron, an eponymous organization founded by their mother. This ordeal will push the young woman to face her anxieties, her mourning and to question her way of life. Ultimately, she will have to choose between the toxicity of comfort or emancipation.

Director Biography - Zoé Tremblay-Bianco

Zoé has a background in dramatic arts (Conservatoire d’art dramatique de Montréal, class of 2016) and television and film production (UQÀM, 2013). During her academic journey, she directed two short films, "Nicola sans S" and "Nini," both of which received awards at various festivals (Fantasia, Cannes Short Film Corner, Trouville, etc.). More recently, she has ventured into directing music videos ("Bourbon," "Embo/phlébite," "Noé Lira") while actively developing new short film projects and primarily working in the field of performing arts.

On stage, she has been featured in productions by Jean-Simon Traversy, René-Richard Cyr, Solène Paré, Olivier Choinière, and Olivier Arteau. She has also made appearances in various productions on both small and big screens ("Baby-Boom," "Le monstre," "Fabuleuses," etc.). She is increasingly establishing herself as an initiator of projects, both in the realms of video and theater. Engaging in feminist and queer activism, she is an advocate within the Maipoils organization. Furthermore, she continues to practice performance, music, poetry, and dance, drawing creative inspiration from radical vulnerability and the acceptance of oneself and others.
