Director Statement

The origin of The Bruce dates back to 2014 when I conceived the idea of writing a play which reimagines the legend of the King of Scots and the spider. That became The Cave but it wasn't until 2018 that I decided to use it as the basis for creating a short film as my directorial debut. It was ambitious, to say the least, to do a short medieval drama on no budget. But with a little luck, a fantastic crew and some stunning locations, we did it, completing post-production in late 2020. There were bumps along the way, including losing footage and an edit (!) but it was so much fun.
