The Briefcase
It was supposed to be a foolproof plan. Except the fools planned it.

Matt Mitchell and Brian Wallace are Florida natives who met at drama school many years ago. They reunited in California, and have decided to produce at least six short films per year, hoping to get really good at this. The Briefcase is their first project.
All we needed was a parking lot. Or a garage. We wanted to make a short comedy about a kidnapping gone wrong. We had no budget, but we had a camera, a script, four actors and the SAG paperwork. We even had a Saturn. We thought all this was supposed to be the hard part.
We looked on Craigslist. People were renting out their garages for $150 a month. How much to use it for just one day? They would only reply with emoticons:
[̲̅$̲̅(̲̅∞)̲̅$̲̅] (^_-) 🌮
Location fee quotes were the closest we came to feeling like Spielberg. We're still not sure what the taco meant.
About to give up, Brian vented to his brother-in-law during a random visit, marveling over how hard it was to find a garage in all of L.A.
“I can get you a garage,” replied the brother-in-law, shrugging. “Or would you rather have a ginger ale factory?”
Turns out he knew a guy.
And so we made a movie.
